AN ARMFUL OF HELP
#131 953 E. Colorado Blvd.
Pasadena, CA 91106
Dear friends:
I wanted to write on behalf of the many homeless and poor
people in downtown Los Angeles and let you know how grateful we
are for your gift of 5 pallets of yogurt to the union rescue
mission. I apologize for the delay in thanking you, but the
holidays are a busy time of year and, unfortunately, I fell
behind. please forgive me.
As you may or may not know, union rescue mission is the
oldest and largest mission on the West Coast serving
approximately 2,500 meals daily and housing 800 people every
night in our building here on skid row. With numbers like these,
I am sure you can imagine our gratefulness to you for your
support and your gift.
It is our objective not only to meet the immediate physical
needs of the homeless people who come to us, but also to provide
a "highway out of skid row". Through structured, in-house
restoration programs, a man or woman has the opportunity to
develop job skills, education, receive guidance, substance abuse
rehabilitation and emotional support so that s/he may return to
society in a self- sufficient, satisfied state.
We are encouraged by the concern of individuals and
businesses throughout our community over the plight of those
less fortunate than themselves. You all are to be highly
commended and thanked for your compassion and love.
May your year be one of many blessings and much joy.
Sincerely,
Leslie McGill
Gift-in-Kind Coordinator
